Afghan gov't to roll out digital document system to combat forgery, corruption

KABUL, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government is set to implement a comprehensive Digital Document System across 13 ministries and state-owned agencies, an official of the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology announced on Monday.

The initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing public administration, enhancing institutional efficiency, eliminating document forgery, and curbing corruption while promoting greater transparency and reducing processing times for official documents and correspondence, Enayatullah Alokozay, spokesman for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, said in a post on X.

To ensure successful implementation, the ministry will organize specialized training workshops for IT personnel from all participating institutions, Alokozay added.

Most Afghan government bodies currently rely on traditional paper-based systems, which have long contributed to protracted bureaucratic delays, vulnerabilities to corruption, and financial irregularities.

The new digital platform aims to address these systemic challenges through secure, traceable, and efficient electronic processes.

The rollout is expected to lay a solid foundation for broader digital transformation across the public sector.
