U.S. may be invited to become part of Southeast Asia

Southeast Asian countries want to form a bloc similar to the United States.
In fact the group wants to include the U.S. in the bloc.
The initiative has come from Japan which is urging leaders of Southeast Asian nations to establish an east asian community which would include the United States as a member.
During a second day of summit meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Thailand, the Japanese prime minister, Yukio Hatoyama (pictured), talked of Southeast Asian countries building a strong economic community that could act as a world leader.
He said Japan wanted the U.S. to play a strong role in the region, perhaps as a member of a new body.
A spokesman for Japan's government Kazuo Kodama said the prime minister told the Association of Southeast Asian Nations that the Japan-U.S. alliance was the fundamental cornerstone of Japan's diplomatic policy.
"At the same time, he said, he now upholds a long-term vision of establishing an East Asia Community in accordance with the open regionalism," Kazuo Kodama said. "He very much intends to promote intra-regional cooperation in east Asia."  Email this story to a friend

Yes, the Japanese, Thais, Tawanese, South Koreans all want us there - we are partly why they exist (we help keep the communist chinese at bay currently and historically). We are also their prime markets for many of their industrial goods. And we help support Indonesia’s freedom from fundamental islam.

Global Federral Integrration
This is a good thought. All the nations should gradually integrate in to a federation for peace, prosperity, progress of mankind on the basis of equality in opportunity and status making human being free to move peacefully across geopolitical boundaries.

This is a good thought. The world should integrate in to a democratic federation for peace, progress, prosperity of human being based on equality of opportunity and status. Man should be liberated from geopolitical boundaries for peaceful and harmonious integration or variety of cultures and civilizations so that future generation may divert its resources with full concentration on peaceful, equal and harmonious development across the globe. A system should be devised to iron our and resolve all the conflicts and disputes peacefully by consensus based on justice, fair play, reasons and mutual understandings. So that united mankind may explore the universe for common benefits and transform this world into heaven for all.

ASEAN + China
An outsider like Japan wants to push ASEAN into a new activity. Get a life.
ASEAN and China are already going for free trade by next year. Take a look at www.caexpo.org. The 11 countries have been working on this for 6 years now.
Japan, a small country of 100+ million population, has no weight.
ASEAN has 500 million. China has 1.3 billon.
