Cooperative sells oil grown on West Bank

Tajikistan News.Net
Tuesday 3rd November, 2009

Palestinian farmers are said to be experiencing an economic boom in the production of olives.

Many farmers harvest olives in the West Bank, as they have done for centuries.

Prices which recently started at just under three dollars per kilo, have now reached nearly seven dollars.

A cooperative in the area deals with sales of the oil by selling directly to a local fair trade company.

This year, the company exported $4 million worth of high-quality Palestinian olive oil.
