The government in Malaysia's Selangor state has allocated four million ringgits in next year's budget for the development of Tamil schools.

However, eight Tamil schools may face closure due to low enrolment.

Education, Welfare and Research Foundation President S. Pasupathy told reporters that six schools in the Batang Berjuntai area have fewer than 30 students.

"If Selangor faced this situation, there is a possibility that other Tamil schools could be facing the same problem," he added.

Pasupathy asked Indian organisations to get parents to send their children to Tamil schools, otherwise the continued existence of Tamil schools could be affected.

Malay government allocates RM4 million ringgits for Tamil schools

This is the 1st time we hear that a stste gove has allocated such an amt for the sake of Tamil schools. This shows the sincerity of the PR led state govet. As for the closure of six schools with student population less than 30 students, in Batang Berjuntai, the Tamil society need to make a conscious effort to protect their own interest. If it is not feasible to have tamil schools then the indians must send their children to the National type schools and push for a mother toungue teacher in such schools.

Malaysia provides boost for Tamil schools

This may be fine and dandy for the politicians. We need to solve the problem of oneness. Look at all the schools, we talk of MUHIBAH but we continue to segregate by race. The Indian by the indians and the chinese by the chinese and the malays by the malays. They don’t mingle. The more we separate, the more problems we will have. One nation one party. One party that has all races in it.

Well done Tan Sri and the team of Pakatan. BN talk about unity (1 Malaysia) but you are showing it with your action. Malaysian Non Malays should think about the diff from BN (UMNO= Untuk Melayu No Others, MCA,MIC and other raacial basis parties) but PKR, DAP and PAS no racial in it. PAS is religious basis is needed and ball game is diff from the others.
