Susan Boyle sings her way to the top
Tajikistan News.Net Sunday 29th November, 2009
Susan Boyle's album "I Dreamed A Dream" has made chart history in the UK, rushing to the top of the charts in its first week.
Ms Boyle who started he career by appearing on the "Britain's Got Talent" series, has sold more than 410,000 copies of "I Dreamed A Dream," the biggest first week sales for a debut album in British chart history.
"I Dreamed A Dream" has outsold the rest of the UK's top five albums, including those by boyband JLS, Black Eyed Peas and Queen.
As the album was topping the charts, her cover of the Rolling Stones classic "Wild Horses" entered the singles charts in ninth place.
The release of the Scottish singing sensation's debut album has made her a worldwide star, prompting the church worker to release the simple statement: "It's fantastic."
Music industry executives have described Boyle's success as exceptional considering her frumpy appearance and lack of show business experience.
But Boyle revealed a soaring voice behind her appearance when she first appeared on the television show in April, with video of her singing becoming a YouTube hit, with at least 100 million viewings.
She initially struggled with her sudden rise to fame, and was given treatment for stress related problems after one show.
Last week photographs appeared in British tabloids showing her crying and sucking her thumb at a promotional event in New York. Email this story to a friend
