TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, Dec. 10 (PIA) -- A total of one hundred forty (140) participants composed of barangay population officers and workers from different cities and municipalities in the province, KATROPA-MOVE officers, parent leaders, representatives and focal persons from different Local Government Units recently attended the 2018 Cavite Parents Summit here which objective is to empower Filipino families.
With this year's theme "Informed Choice on Family Planning towards Empowered Filipino Families," the conference aims to ensure a well-planned family and promote the significance of responsible parenthood.
Lorena R. Cron, Provincial Population Officer welcomed the guest speakers and participants as she expressed gratitude to the provincial government for its continued support to the activities of PopCom.
This activity "will become a channel in strengthening the link with other support agencies," she said.
Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs, Alvin S. Mojica who also thanked the participants for their contributions that had proved significant in the implementation of the plans and programs of PopCom to strengthen their advocacy focused on family orientation and development.
Marilyn F. Ogaya, Assistant Regional Director of the Commission on Population Region IV talked about the Philippine Population Management Plan, Responsible Parenthood, and Reproductive Health Law as she emphasized that "Knowledge is Power."
She explained the importance of having the right knowledge on family planning such as proper birth spacing and the ability to decide on what family planning method to use.
Atty. Khervy B. Reyes, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Cooperative Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCLEDO) also lectured on Financial Literacy and encouraged the participants to be conscious about investing for the future and to use their money wisely.
"Know what to prioritize and must focus on your strengths," he said.
The event gave way to the recognition of Provincial/City/Municipal/Barangay Population officers and workers for their efforts in the proper implementation of thePopulation Management Programs and their commitment in empowering the Caviteno families.
Marieta B. San Juan, Population Program Officer III challenged the participants to cascade all the learnings gained from the said activity and enforced the Responsible Parenthood/Family Planning (RPFP) and Adolescent Health and Development to their municipalities/cities.
The said event was held in observance of the Population and Development Week which was conducted by the Provincial Government of Cavite thru the Provincial Population Office in collaboration with the Commission on Population Region IV.(Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite/with reports from PICAD)
