TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Dec. 13 (PIA) - - Five entries of Cagayan Valley region bagged major recognitions in the recently concluded 2019 Kaunlarang Pantao Awards - formerly the Rafael M. Salas Population and Development Award, at the Chardonnay by Astoria, Pasig City.
Emelita R. Salvador, municipal population officer (MPO)-designate of Baggao, Cagayan, was adjudged as the Most Outstanding Municipal Population Officer, besting six other nominees nationwide.
Salvador, in her speech, acknowledged the full support of the officialdom of Baggao, the provincial government of Cagayan, and the Commission on Population and Development Region 2.
"I have dedicated my everything, my time, energy and resources in order to implement the Philippine Population Management Program up to the barangay level. This award inspires me to do more as a public servant and continue empowering Filipino families in Baggao," Salvador said.
On the other hand, Rona S. Colendrino, population program officer III of Maddela, Quirino, also garnered 2nd place in the Most Outstanding Municipal Population Office category.
Meanwhile, Froilan B. Herrera, PPO III of the province of Quirino and Johanna Mercy C. Gabriel, PPO II of Santiago City, both garnered 3rd place in the Most Outstanding Provincial Population Officer and City Population Officer categories, respectively.
Further, Jonalyn P. Artates, the barangay population of Barangay Del Pilar, Cabarroguis, Quirino was also recognized as one of the national winners in the Most Outstanding Barangay Population Worker (BPW)/Volunteer category, together with all other BPW nominees nationwide.
On her part, PopCom II Regional Director Herita O. Macarubbo expressed her heartfelt salutations to the national winners from Region 2.
"I am so proud that with your commitment and dedication in implementing the population program, we were able to make a difference. I hope other population officers in Region 2 will be inspired to do the same and emulate your best practices," Macarubbo said.
