DAVAO CITY, January 16 (PIA) - Dabawenyos are pitching in to help victims of the recent Mt. Taal volcanic eruption.
The City Government is sending 5,000 food packs to affected families in Sto. Tomas, Calaca and Tanauan towns in Batangas.
Taal Volcano, one of the most active and deadliest volcanoes in the country erupted on January 12 spewing ash column resulting in heavy ashfall which affected nearby localities including parts of Metro Manila.
The province of Batangas has declared a State of Calamity and evacuated residents living 14 kilometers from the volcano. The ashfall also necessitated the use of N95 masks which hiked its demand.
The City Government of Davao is also encouraging the public to pitch in their donations for Taal victims. The City is encouraging donations in the form of N95 masks, food, bottled water, blankets, mosquito nets, sleeping mats (banig), and hygiene kits.
