CALOOCAN CITY, July 15 (PIA) - The Department of Health (DOH) is urging every Filipino to be part of take part in fighting the COVID-19 by having health preventive behaviors amid the pandemic.
During the "Tatak ng Pagbabago 2020: Pre-SONA Forum" with the Participatory Governance, and Human Development & Poverty Reduction Cabinet clusters on Wednesday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III intoduced the newly launched 'BIDA Solusyon', the Philippine government's social and behavioral change campaign to encourage Filipinos to practice the four key preventive behaviors that will help keep themselves and their families safe against the pandemic.
"We believe in a strong and cohesive information campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic that continuously affects us in many ways. The "BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19" aims to encourage the Filipino people to take an active role in the fight against our common enemy: COVID-19" Duque said..
"Each letter in BIDA represents one of these behaviors: Bawal walang mask, I-sanitize ang kamay at Iwas-hawak sa mga bagay, Dumistansya ng isang metro, at Alamin ang totoong impormasyon," Duque explained.
The DOH has tapped celebrity Alden Richards as the campaign's ambassador.
THe health secretary also mentioned some of the developments in the country's surveillance and diagnostic capacity including the established laboratory and healthcare provider networks.
"We started from one COVID-19 testing laboratory in March, but now we have 85 testing laboratories," Duque said.
"There are more than 15,000 beds dedicated for COVID-19 cases as well as more than 100,000 beds in quarantine facilities," he added. (PIA-NCR)
