Construction of township for Afghan returnees begins in Afghanistan's Kunduz

KABUL, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Construction of a township for Afghan returnees has begun in Kunduz province, north of Afghanistan, reported the official Bakhtar News Agency on Thursday.

Covering 3,000 acres of land in Chahar Dara district, the newly designed township would have all facilities, including school, health center, potable water, mosque and other necessities, the media outlet added.

Demand for shelter has been on a constant rise in post-war Afghanistan since the influx of Afghan refugees, especially from neighboring Pakistan and Iran, in recent years.

To overcome the challenge, the government has laid the foundation stone of some townships for returnees in parts of the country.
